GW Radio is a hobby and a learning experience for me on streaming audio protocols and software. I like having a non-stop mix of my favourite music playing while I’m working.
The ratings shown here are strongly biased towards producing a radio station profile with a mix of calm, relaxing and happy moods. I find this is the kind of music with which I work best.
There are several pieces of software running behind the scenes to make the stream come to life.
- Mserv 0.35 does all the work of selecting tracks to play.
- Mstream 1.1 is an mserv player package to queue tracks to IceS.
- IceS 0.4 is the source client creating the MP3 stream.
- Icecast 2.3.2 distributes the encoded stream to listeners.
I’m using a couple of Squeezebox players and occasionally also Winamp on the road to listen to the stream. I also hope to eventually get my Audiotron back up and running again, too. Playback is not available to the public, sorry.
Mstream
(mstream-1.3.tar.gz)
is an mserv player package for queueing tracks to an IceS MP3 stream
source. It consists of a player script for mserv and a playlist
handler module for IceS. It supports the NEXT
and
STOP
commands in mserv. It also supports title streaming
with metadata from the mserv database.
